Purpose

The dialog is used to edit the dimensions, schedules and materials of miter bend components. The tab Component is used to select miter bends for all line sizes. There is no tab for alternative miter bends. The tab Detail dimensions is used to view a drawing of a miter bend and to optionally edit the dimensions.

Description

  • 'Project number', to identify the project or plant by number. The number is shown in various reports.
  • 'Pipe Class', the name or number to identify the pipe class. The number is shown in various reports.

Tab sheet Component shows a list of miter bends per line size.

The following data fields are available:

  • 'Table', a list of selectable miter bends with the main properties. Each row represents one miter bend. Select one or more rows and use the other fields to set the properties.
  • 'Standard', the pipe standard for one or more miter bends.
  • 'Schedule/Rating', list of available selectable schedules according the standard. 
  • 'Material Standard', the pipe material standard of one miter bend. Use the buttons to change or remove a material standard for one or more miter bends. For further information see PCC material selection window.
  • 'Dimension Standard', the dimension standard of one miter bend. Here, this standard is read-only and can not be changed, because it is the used pipe standard. For further information see PCC dimension selection window.
  • 'Schedule/Rating', the schedule to classify the thickness of one miter bend. Here, this schedule is read-only and can not be changed, because it is the used pipe schedule.
  • 'Thickness', the nominal wall thickness of one miter bend. Use this field for one or more miter bends. When the value is customized, the field 'Schedule/Rating' will display '...'.
  • 'Tolerance', the value for the tolerance allowance of one miter bend. Use this field for one or more miter bends. To change the unit of measurement see PCC unit selection window.
  • 'End type', the end type of one miter bend. Use this field for one or more miter bends.
  • 'Description', the description of one miter bend. Use this field for one or more miter bends. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. For further information see PCC pipe class edit window. This field is only used for reporting.
  • 'Note list', a list of notes of one miter bend. Use this field for one or more miter bends. This field is only used for reporting.
  • 'Commodity code', the commodity code of one miter bend. Use this field for one or more miter bends. This field is only used for reporting.
  • 'Weld joint quality factor z, E', the value for the weld joint factor of one miter bend. Use this field for one or more miter bends. The value ranges from 1 to 0. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. When you change the material, this value can change.
  • 'Weld joint strength reduction W', select the material category that will set the value for the weld joint strength reduction factor W of one or more miter bends. The value for W ranges from 1 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to reduce the (weld joint) strength even further than the weld joint factor. For high design temperatures, the factor W determines the deterioration of the strength due to the temperature. This is applicable for seamless and welded miter bends.
  • 'Coefficient Y', select the material category that will set the value for coefficient Y of one or more miter bends. The value for Y ranges from 0.7 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to calculate the minimum required thickness.
  • 'Material performance factor Mf', select the material category that will set the value for factor Mf of one or more miter bends. The value for Mf ranges from 1 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to reduce the strength even further than the weld joint factor. For certain media like hydrogen, the factor Mf determines the deterioration of the strength due to the medium. 

Tab sheet Detail dimensions shows the dimensions and a drawing of one miter bend.

The following data fields are available:

  • 'D0', outside diameter. To change the unit of measurement see PCC unit selection window.
  • 't0', nominal thickness.
  • 'R0', bend radius of centerline.
  • 'H0', extra height at ends.
  • 'Alpha', total angle of miter bend.
  • 'NoS', number of segments including the ends, default 5.
  • 'tol', thickness tolerance.

The following fields are available for the drawing:

  • 'Arrow', to reset the selection modus.
  • 'Magnifying glass', to zoom in into the drawing.
  • 'Measurement', to measure a dimension in the drawing.
  • 'Save', to save the drawing to a file in DXF format.

The buttons at the bottom are:

  • 'Help' button to show this help page.
  • 'OK' button to close the dialog and save the data.
  • 'Cancel' button to close the dialog without saving the data.
