Purpose
The dialog is used to create pipe schedules as a starting point for a new pipe class. Each pipe size gets a schedule that suits the minimum required wall thickness. The calculation of the minimum thickness is based on the rules of the selected calculation code, materials and design conditions. This dialog is shown after pressing key F8.
Description
The wizard has 2 methods for creating pipe schedules. The most suitable method depends on the manufacturing and the size of the pipes.
- The first method needs the pipe standard with the available pipe schedules, the pipe material and the pipe design conditions corrosion and tolerance. Also select the pipe properties joint efficiency (weld joint quality factor z, E), weld joint strength reduction factor W (ASME B31.3 only), coefficient Y (ASME B31.X only) and material performance factor Mf (ASME B31.12 only). - The second method is an alternative optional method for when the pipe is made of plate. This is a solution for when a selected pipe standard does not provide the desired size. This method needs the activation (checkbox) of this method, the starting line size, the plate material and the plate design conditions corrosion and tolerance. Also select the target design plate thickness. This method uses a separate corrosion, tolerance and joint efficiency.

The following data fields are available for method 1:
- 'Pipe standard', the dimension standard of the pipes. Use the buttons to add or remove the pipe standard.
- 'Pipe Material', the material standard of the pipes. Use the buttons to add or remove a material standard. For further information see PCC material selection window.
- 'Corrosion cor1', the corrosion allowance in millimetres or percentage of the pipes. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. To change the unit of measurement see PCC unit selection window.
- 'Tolerance tol1', the value for the tolerance allowance of the pipes. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. To change the unit of measurement see PCC unit selection window.
- 'Joint Efficiency wjqf1', the value for the weld joint factor of the pipes. The value ranges from 1 to 0. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. When you change the pipe material, this value can change.
- 'Weld joint strength reduction factor W', select the material category that will set the value for the weld joint strength reduction factor W of the pipes. The value for W ranges from 1 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to reduce the (weld joint) strength even further than the weld joint factor. For high design temperatures, the factor W determines the deterioration of the strength due to the temperature. This is applicable for seamless and welded pipe.
- 'Coefficient Y', select the material category that will set the value for coefficient Y of the pipes. The value ranges from 0.7 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to calculate the minimum required thickness.
- 'Material performance factor Mf', select the material category that will set the value for factor Mf of the pipes. The value ranges from 1 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to reduce the strength even further than the weld joint factor. For certain media like hydrogen, the factor Mf determines the deterioration of the strength due to the medium.
The following data fields are available for methods 2:
- 'Use plate material for large diameter', option to activate this method.
- 'Minimum pipe size for plate', the starting line size of the plates.
- 'Plate Material', the material standard of the plates. Use the buttons to add or remove a material standard. For further information see PCC material selection window.
- 'Corrosion cor2', the corrosion allowance in millimetres or percentage for the plates. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. To change the unit of measurement see PCC unit selection window.
- 'Tolerance tol2', the value for the tolerance allowance of the plates. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. To change the unit of measurement see PCC unit selection window.
- 'Joint Efficiency wjqf2', the value for the weld joint factor of the plates. The value ranges from 1 to 0. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. When you change the plate material, this value can change.
- 'Design plate thickness', the target for the design thickness of the plates. The options are:
- as minimum plate thickness
- as per pipe schedule, if available
- 'Material performance factor Mf', select the material category that will set the value for factor Mf of the plates. The value ranges from 1 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to reduce the strength even further than the weld joint factor. For certain media like hydrogen, the factor Mf determines the deterioration of the strength due to the medium.
The following extra data fields are available:
- 'Start Design', a button to create the pipe schedules according above methods.
- 'Calculation result', a list of pipe schedules.
The buttons at the bottom are:
- 'Help' button, to show this help page
- 'OK' button, to open the project and close this dialog.
- 'Cancel' button, to close the dialog without saving the data.
